Epiderma 5 chemical peels are a treatment that applies a chemical solution to the surface of the skin to remove the outer layers of the skin, the chemicals leave a deep exfoliation of the skin which leaves the resurfaced skin smooth and fresh. At ACOSMETICS we offer 40-70% glycolic acid peels, our qualified practitioners will assess and recommend the course needed for a light/medium/deep chemical peel.

Who can have a Chemical Peel?

Any client who desires to improve the appearance of the skins surface, fine lines and wrinkles, acne scars, and damaged pigmentation.

Not suitable for clients that are pregnant or breastfeeding
Not suitable for clients with pre-existing dermatoses (eg, psoriasis, atopic dermatitis, pemphigus) or certain medical history i.e. facial cancers.

What are the risks?

Superficial Chemical Peel treatments are usually very safe, with minimal risks, this is performed by a fully qualified and trained medical practitioner. After all treatments, high SPF protection is essential to protect the new skin surface.

How is an Epiderma 5 Chemical Peel performed?

After an initial consultation, the surface of the skin will be thoroughly cleaned and prepared before the practitioner begins to apply the chemical solution to the skin, after a specific time the solution is neutralised and removed. The treatment takes around 30 minutes.

What are the side effects following an Epiderma 5 Chemical peel treatment?

Chemical peel treatments carry very few side effects, immediately post-treatment the area may be slightly red and feel tight, but this soon settles and fades. Some people may experience dry patches of skin in problem areas that are being treated.

What should I expect from a Chemical Peel?

The chemical peel removes up to 3 weeks of dead skin cells so the results will last for approximately 4 weeks, although with a good skin care regime the results can last up to 6 months. Although it is recommended to have a 4 or 6 peel course for most individuals for best results.

How Long is the down time after treatment?

After every treatment, full after-care advice will be given to every client. There is no downtime after an Epidermal 5 Chemical Peel however, we recommend no make-up or products to be put on to the area for a minimum of 2 hours and it’s recommended no exercise post-treatment for 24 hours.
